Kim McGuinness re-elected as Police and Crime Commissioner.

Kim McGuinness was re-elected as police commissioner for Northumberland, Tyne and Wear on a promise to fight crime, prevent crime.

The Labour PCC received backing from across the North East following her campaign to back the police, tackle anti-social behaviour and invest in hard-hit neighbourhoods.

In the May 201 elections for the Northumbria PCC Kim McGuinness increased her majority from 6,000 to just over 66,000. She won 60% of the vote ahead of Tory Duncan Crute, Lib Dem Peter Maughan and independent Julian Kilburn.

Kim said: “This election result was a full on endorsement from the people of Northumberland, Tyne and Wear. They have backed my plan to see more progress on fighting crime, and more done to prevent crime.

“I’m proud to be working hard for all our residents and showing what Labour in office can achieve for them.”

Kim will serve a three-year term until 2024 due to the year lost to Covid-19.
